Man: Maybe the lessons of Vietnam still aren't taught in Chian. Phred: But that's incredible! It's only been a month and they're already mired, just like the French and Americans! Man: Sounds like another Vietnam. Phred: No, no, it's the same Vietnam. Maybe it's a new China. Man: No, I meant Vietnam is becoming China's Vietnam. Phred: Well, that's their problem. Vietnam's got its own Vietnam in Cambodia.
I wonder whether the word quagmire would have caught on if Vietnam were arid.
