Mark: Dan, in your book you claim that a major problem for the mellow parent is designer jeans. Dan: That's right, Mark. Designer jeans are tearing a lot of families apart. Because of Brooke Shields and all the T.V. ads, kids today are clamoring for status jeans. Unfortunately, they grow out of them quickly, so many parents don't think they're worth the money. Mark: So which side of the issue do you come down on, Dan? Dan: I'm pro-jeans, Mark. Kids will be judged on their jeans all their lives. Parents who skimp on jeans give their children a social handicap! Mark: How about designer water? Same thing? Dan: Absolutely. The kid who doesn't have perrier in his lunchpail could miss the boat!
