Mike: What a night that was...it haunts me still! Dan Rather: What was your role in the Iran-contra scandal, Mr. Vice President? Mike: I was in the kitchen making a fluffernutter. George Bush: This has all been looked into! This is a rehash! Dan Rather: We want to talk about the record! George Bush: This is not a great night! This is a misrepresentation of the part of CBS! Dan Rather: I don't want to be argumentative Mr. Vice President! George Bush: How would you like it if I judged yor career by those seven minutes when you walked off the set? Would you like that? Dan Rather: Mr. Vice President, you've made us hypocrites in the face of the world! George Bush: The b*****d didn't lay a glove on me! Dan Rather: I was persistent! George Bush: I need combat pay1 It was tension city! Dan Rather: I respect the office of the Vice Presidency! What was your role in the Iran-contra scandal, Mr. Vice President? The interview turned on one basic question. He remembers where he was at the time. Like millions of others, he watched with a mixture of fascination and horror.
