Jeff: Hey, man. How'd the riot go? Zipper: It was a bit of a dud... Since the game ended in a tie, there was some confusion over what we were rioting about. So we started debating our motivation, and someone finally suggested this Trent Lott guy. Jeff: Good choice. Zipper: I dunno. You hate to see a riot politicized.
For those not in the know, on 12/5/2002 Trent Lott spoke at Senator Strom Thurman’s 100th birthday party. He made remarks that referenced back to earlier comments about keeping segregation, and that the Civil Rights Act should be overturned.
