Joanie: That's just perfect! How much would it cost? Florist: Well, the iris is flown in from Holland, so it would be close to $65 an arrangement. Joanie: Oh, dear... I'm afraid that's much too expensive... Florist: Oh? How much was madam prepared to spend? Joanie: About eight dollars a table? Florist: Eight dollars? Joanie: I'm dreaming, aren't I? Florist: Perhaps madam would like us to arrange some dandelions for her.
Spoiler alert.Following on from last week’s 1981 sequence, here is GBT’s final tribute to Dick Davenport. A birdsong tribute, the sequence starts on the 3rd (4, 6 and 7 are perhaps the better days). http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1986/11/07The funeral sequence starts on the 10th (I especially like the last 3 of that arc, bird call tribute). Co-incidentally, the next sequence (particularly 20th Nov 1986, Havoc) is the sequence that first started my appreciation of Doonesbury (thanks to the Manchester Guardian). The Bachman triptych ends with the photographs of a Bachmans Warbler!Mike
