LLeRay, what I remember well leading up the 92 presidential election was how some media got behind the problems of our healthcare delivery system and covered it well. I especially remember a two-hour, prime time town-hall format special hosted by Ted Koppel that ran clips of people and problems created by insurers. One man had maxed out his benefits because of the expense of his medication for his disease, an older couple with healthcare benefits as part of his retirement benefits lost their healthcare insurance because the company went bankrupt and no private insurer would take him because of ‘pre-existing conditions.’ It was great journalism.
I was so disappointed when all that momentum dissipated.
