Elly: Well, your new hygienist is interesting, intelligent, witty... And really very nice, John... John: Hah! And you thought I hired my staff on the basis of appearance alone! Why, I would never have married you if a beautiful face and sexy shape were all that mattered... And heaven knows you have both!!
Glad I didn’t read this strip when it was originally published, because I’d never have continued reading it. In the early strips John is extremely tactless, inconsiderate, and demeans Elly — and I don’t like him at all.
