The Democrats original deal was to give a small, temporary payroll tax cut that robs the social security fund in exchange for a permanent tax increase on any person or business making over a million dollars. Of course the Republicans scoffed at that trade. Businesses and the affluent already pay way more taxes percentage wise and dollar wise. Businesses are so over-taxed in the U.S. that they’re sending all of their jobs to Mexico and China! Why would we want to kill more domestic jobs by taxing job creators while simultaneously defunding the already insolvent social security fund?
