Yes, they pood the screwch. No, not like this. In fact there’s a bazillion people doing background checking on folks who “need” security clearance. But two things to consider:
1: Any time there’s bazillions of people doing something, some of them are going to be not very good at it (compared to the others). No way around it. “Law of big numbers”.
2: At his age, Teixeira is just BARELY starting to become who he really is. So, investigating whether he’s been a good person in the past isn’t going to give you very much info at all about what he’ll be like in the future, much less now.
And on a different front: I see that the unit he was assigned to has had it’s security role pulled entirely. I do not wonder why.
