436rge, just Google [Hosts file], and you’ll find out how to block a whole bunch of ad sites, as well as (some) malware, parasites and hijackers.
Your hosts file maps a list of URLs to your own ‘localhost’ (usually 127.0.0.1), and the browser doesn’t find the ads there (unless you’ve got some ads on your own machine!)
