Once upon a time I lived on a road with only one access point, and within a few yards of that intersection there was a pot hole sufficient to damage LOG TRUCKS. Nobody did anything about it for weeks. Someone put up an orange cone. It disappeared. Somebody planted a 20 foot pine tree in it. Within a week, the pothole had been “fixed” (potholes don’t get actually fixed without rebuilding the road around them, at least to some extent).
