gbrucewilson needs to look up the word “fact” in the dictionary and apply it to his post.
Points 1 & 2 are correct. Most of the points presented as fact are assumptions with no data to back it up. Regardless of the tax rate “the rich” are assessed, they collectively pay much less thanks to tax loop-holes and dodges we can’t seem to ever get rid of. That is the product of the little bi-partisanship that seems to happen lately. Let’s not forget about the not so legal cheats a high priced lawyer and shady accountant buys you. And of course there are some (like a few politicians on both sides of the isle) who just don’t bother to pay.
Being wealthy in this country quite often has NOTHING to do with being successful. Yes, there are many, many people who started out dirt poor and made something of themselves. Warren buffet is a shining example of that. More often than not it’s about being born into a rich family. The Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Astors are shining (if extreme) examples of that.
As for his assertion of “fact” of charity comparisons, you can fertilize all of Montana 10 feet deep with that pile of bull s**t! There’s a good deal of “Christians” in this country who wouldn’t dream of giving a dime to charity. I’ve had the displeasure of meeting plenty of “Christians” who were so in name only. There’s also more than plenty liberals and/or atheists (they are not one and the same) who do willingly and happily donate to worthy charities.
