Over the long course of the United States (okay, the regular length course, if you insist), the rule has USUALLY been that congress and the Senate work together to reach a compromise so that the nation will continue along a course that we all disagree with more or less equally. Only since, approximately Newt (the reptile) Gingrich has it been as divided as we now see. That’s not just a bad thing, it’s not all that common. I wish I could see how it will heal itself.
