marcy: Looks like another firecracker mishap. woman: That makes fifteen so far. marcy: Why is independence day so darn dependent on explosives? Marcy: Explain this concept to me, joe....we gain our freedom from the british..we're ecstatic....so we run out and buy dangerous explosives. our kids learn how to play with them....they end up losing finger, toes, eyes, and ears. They lose some of their independence, too. marcy: I don't get it! I've seen too many maimed people because of this crazy tradition! Joe: Keep it down, marcy. you sound unpatriotic! America loves it's explosives! Don't blame the firecrackers! joe: Blame the parents. marcy: oh, yeah. that's part of the tradition, too.
