Any luck with that Heater? Its freezing in this house! I'll figure out this things before you get home from work, Marcy. POP! Help! Can you stop by on your way home from work pop? You ok? Im down in the basement with a busted heater! Go upstairs where the thermostat is.... Put new batteries in the wall unit. I didn't even know this thing ran on batteries, Heats on again! thanks pop! Now to stage this are to make it look like I actually did somethin...
The wall unit only uses the batteries if it is miswired or the thermostat wire was not upgraded when they switched from a mechanical to a digital unit. It normally runs off of the 24v from the furnace transformer. The correct fix is to run a new thermostat cable with extra wires. The wire costs less than $20.
