Vero: Jose, check out this lunch bag I just "Discovered'! Jose: Huh? Huey! That's my lunch! You can't "Discover" something that's already there and belongs to someone else and claim it for your own... Wait a minute - that's not what it says in this book. Vero: Now that's "Discovery."
Well, it depends of how you understand “discover”. I mean, some astronomer finds an exoplanet, and then they learn there’s already sentient life living there. The planet was still discovered to the earthlings because they didn’t know it was there and now they knew, even if it already belongs to another species.
The same with America, Easter Island or Australia: they were discovered to the Europeans because they didn’t know they were there.
