The Beandocks Cuco: Pharrell and Robin Thicke lost a $7.3 million judgement against the Marvin Gaye estate for copyright infringe-ment. They are our generation's Milli Vanilli. Eddie: Girl, you know it's true.
I always enjoy Lalo’s parodies of McGruders comic. This lawsuit judgement sucks. The Gaye family has been a bunch of greedy no talents since they lost their meal ticket to daddys stupidity and cruielty. The two songs only sound vaguely similar as do hundreds of other songs out there. This decidion will stifle creativity to a point of choking innovation to death. Sometimes creating involves a little borrowiing and copying to come up with new and bold modifications or creations. And sometimes people forget they heard or read something when they were younger as happened with Gene Roddenberry and his episode “Arena”. he was in the middle of producing it when someone pointed out that is was a copy of Frederick Browns story of the same name. Luckily, Brown was not a greedy ass and gave him permission to use it. We need to seriously reform our copyright laws to protect both the original artist and the innovators.
