Time for another Ferguson Effect story. Yes, I posted this once before.
Dateline Milwaukee, last week.
My stepdaughter got hit by a guy in a pickup who blew a stop sign. The way the cars ended up, his little pickup was trapped between her car and a parked car. He tried to back out and couldn’t, so he jumped out and started yelling at her to move her car. When she refused, he yanked her door open and tried to kick her over to the passenger side.
Before he could do too much injury he was surrounded by local pedestrians who refused to let him go. The incident was recorded on the “dashcam” on a city bus at the corner. It was witnessed by a Transit Cop on the bus. Several local witnesses also confirmed the exact events above. She was kept overnight at the hospital with breathing difficulty. She has bruises on her chest and abdomen in the shape of his boot.
Police refused to arrest the man, despite having run the stop in an unregistered vehicle while on a suspended license, not to mention assault, attempted carjacking, etc. They told my daughter that the neighborhood situation was “touchy” and that they couldn’t risk triggering an “incident”.
She is white, he is black. The neighborhood is such that they puts cops on the buses.
Never mind that she had her two mixed race boys in the back seat.
Never mind that her husband is black.
Never mind that the witnesses and the crowd who restrained the driver were local black residents.
