That was certainly a theme in the elections last night. All attempts at restricting abortion were rebuffed.
If a year long effort in Ohio where the governor and all top GOP executives throw everything they have into the pot and restricting abortion STILL fails by a massive margin, there’s just no way to put it over. The people don’t want it. Period.
I do wonder how the vote would have gone WITHOUT the exaggerations, outright lies, scare tactics, voter suppression, word games, lawsuits and even attempts to increase the threshold for passage. Run as a simple question, without all the billions spent on ads and lies, and it would probably have garnered at least another 10% of the voters.
It’s a totally losing issue, and the GOP spent more than fifty years tying themselves to it by unbreakable bonds. How they get around that is something I can’t imagine.
