Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for February 07, 1991
Transcript:
Luann: I'll never have a boyfriend, Miss Phelps. I'm just not a big catch. Luann: I have no figure, my hair is dumb-looking, my nose is too big and my personality is blah. Plus, I have braces on my teeth! Nothing about me is good! Miss Phelps: Nonsense, Luann. Miss Phelps: Your self-perception is very good.
Luann has low self esteem. A lot of that seems to come from her brother who always puts her down and calls her ugly and fat all the time. Some of her peers like Tiffany do the same.
Tiffany looks great and is popular with boys so her words really hurt Luann.
She is so shy she wears baggy and over sized cloths to cover herself up because she thinks she is fat when she really is not. But because her brother says so, she thinks that.
The sad thing is no one is realizing how much this is hurting her…
