I once heard an interview with a woman in the hotel industry who said that, by and large, visiting hockey teams cause far fewer problems all around than visiting NFL, MLB, or NBA teams. Part of the difference was attributed to the hockey players’ blowing off more steam on the field of play and thus having less destructive energy to expend in public. But it was also suggested that, since hockey players are on average paid less and less famous than players in the Big Three, they were in less danger of becoming pretentious, entitled, spoiled, bully-brats.
