Kate: I've decided that I don't want to watch or read the news anymore, Daddy... Joe: Really, Kate? I thought you liked staying informed. Kate: Maybe I'm getting too informed. I'm beginning to believe that there's not one decent person in government who's capable of telling the truth. Ok, this is the part where you reassure me by saying the news gives us a skewed impression by focusing on the corruption and lying, and that the majority of politicians are good, honest, altruistic people. Having spent a lot of my life as a newspaper reporter and editor, I’ll say what I always tell people: it’s in the news because it’s unusual. If it were commonplace, it wouldn’t be news.
