wow nate, so whay are you put in charge whenever your captain's away? oh gosh, i don't know.. i guess basically it's because i'm the roughest and tough - mouse!!! boy remind me never to bring anyone around you that i'm trying to impress.
This provides a great example of character development. Here in the early days we see Nate absolutely terrified at the mere mention of a mouse, yet later he is transformed to such an extent that he can confidently carry mice around in his beard whenever the need arises.
