verne: tomorrow is memorial day. rj: I know. lots of picnics of pilfer. verne: It's also a day to honor all those who lost their lives fighting for this country. rj: honor? how? verne: all you need to do is take a moment to remember the fallen warriors. rj: that works, too.
The next time you are at an interstate rest area and see a large bronze marker with a light blue star at the top, pause and read it. It is in memory and honor of all who have served, are serving and will serve in our armed forces. The blue star is in recognition of the WWII mother’s whose sons were in the military. After the war the National Council of State Garden Clubs (now National Garden Clubs) wanted to continue the recognition of those who had served. All markers are donated by individuals and clubs. Pause a moment, remember, and be grateful.
