Peppermint Patty and Roy sit on a big chair. Peppermint Patty says, "You say you met this Linus kid at camp?" Roy replies, "Yes, and the year before I met a good friend of his, Charlie Brown . . ."<BR><BR> Roy continues, "He was a strange round-headed kid who never talked about anything except baseball and this awful team of his that always loses . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty pushes Roy toward the phone and says, "I love baseball! Get on the phone quick! Tell him your friend, 'Pepppermint' Patty, has volunteered to help!"<BR><BR> Roy dials as Peppermint Patty says, "I really love baseball! I'll take over this kid's team and show him how to win!!"<BR><BR>
Also, I,too, have heard, that the name "Peppermint"Patty was inspired by a dish of candy, that Schulz had had sitting around his house, for some time. I guess if he was going to name this new Peanuts girl “Patty,” prefixing "Peppermint"to the name had been a good way, of distinguishing THIS Patty from the other one, who had been with the strip, virtually since it began—you know, the one who palled around with Violet(and then Frieda)who wore the bow in her hair(on the side).
