Peppermint Patty and Marcie walk home from school. Marcie says, "You didn't have to give the teacher so many flowers, sir . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty and Marcie stand and look in opposite directions. Marcie says, "It wasn't a competition, you know."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty replies, "Don't be a poor loser, Marcie."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty stands at the doorstep and says, "Admit it . . . You were outposied!"<BR><BR>
Peppermint Patty is ALSO a bit like Snoopy, in this respect—the kind who just HAS to make a BIG DEAL, out of EVERYTHING, including RELATIVELY LITTLE THINGS, like Marcie having been kind enough, to bring their teacher flowers, for May Day. I mean, just like Marcie says, in Panel 2, it wasn’t as if it was some kind of contest, as to who could bring in the most flowers-what Marcie had done on May 1, was just a thoughtful gesture, on her part.
