Lucy sits in a director's chair.<BR><BR> Snoopy wears a military hat and holds a rifle. He thinks, "Just before the battle mother . ."<BR><BR> Snoopy lies down with a blanket over him. Linus dresses as a doctor. Lucy holds a paper and says, "This is a very dramatic play . . . You will be the surgeon and Snoopy will be the wounded soldier . ."<BR><BR> Lucy stands in front of Snoopy and says, "Because there is no anesthetic available, the patient has to bite a bullet . ."<BR><BR> Linus stands next to Snoopy. Lucy points and says, "All right, give him the bullet, and start the surgery!"<BR><BR> Linus holds a bullet up to Snoopy's mouth.<BR><BR> Snoopy chews the bullet.<BR><BR> Linus explains, "We couldn't find a bullet so we had to use a cookie . . ."<BR><BR>
Well, Snoopy, since you like imagining WWI so much, being wounded and operated on is another thing for you to imagine… “at most he will only last a few days. What he has gone through so far is nothing to what he’s in for till he dies. Now he is numb and feels nothing. In an hour he will become one screaming bundle of intolerable pain. Every day that he can live will be a howling torture.” (All Quiet on the Western Front)
