Counselor: We have a new dog-therapy member today, everyone. Perhaps Poncho would like to address the group? Poncho: Yeah, I'd just like to say that my rehab partner is actually a cat. Counselor: We don't like to use labels here in group. Poncho: Well, how am I supposed to get better if I'm partnered with a cat? Counselor: Everyone has their problems, Poncho. This is a place of caring and tolerance. Poncho: Does anybody want to trade? Counselor: Okay, we're gonna need some shackles here!
That is so true today – you can’t call someone what they actually are for fear of labelling them. Somehow euphemisms make them feel better, even though they mean exactly the same thing…
