Et tu, Brute. The GOP consists of brutes these days. It’s one of those wonderful & telling Oliphant details that the elephant in the background is donning his chapeau and slinking away in what one has to assume is shame and disgust.

Yeah, the cougars aren’t interested, either. Just as well, I guess. These days, if a woman says she has a proposition for me, my first instinct is to take a nap.

Ha! My point. Thanks for noticing…
Like so many of their other “self-evident facts,” the MyFACTS people know that’s in the Constitution they so revere. And besides, what’s the difference? I’ve actually had people say that to my face. They read both documents the same way they “read” their Bible: they don’t. Or if they do, it’s with little or no comprehension, and they pick and choose which parts they like and ignore the rest.

Well, when one considers that half of all Americans are of below average intelligence, and that a good many more aren’t much smarter than that, and that their vote counts more or less the same as anyone else’s, it certainly gives one cause for concern. It’s all too easy to sell the suckers on the notion that because the Constitution says “All men are created equal” (just ask ’em; they read it just like they read their Bible…) all their “facts” are equal too.

Lived in small towns all my life. There’s usually not much to see, but, once you get to know the place, there’s always plenty to hear…

WooHoo!!
Talk about subsidies! How about a new battle cry for the Richthuglicons? “Billions for the billionaires, pennies for the penniless!” I mean, the billionaires deserve their “subsidies” don’t they? They’re called “billionaires” because they pay all of our bills, right? Right?? (Millionares, also, BTW…)

Hear! Hear!@doughfoot “I myself would prefer a simpler and more elegant solution.”So would I. BUT, there is a certain reality that renders a “single payer” system a political impossibility. In every medical practice of any size there are typically several people employed doing nothing but medical coding and billing. In a large hospital, the billing department can run to several hundred employees. Worse, especially in serious cases, physicians themselves often spend hours “interfacing” with the insurance companies on behalf of their patients. And, in a parallel universe at the insurance companies, there is a corresponding number of paper shufflers, number crunchers and flack catchers. A streamlined “single payer” system would likely save trillion(s) of $ a year by putting million(s) of these people out of useless jobs that never so much as change a bedpan. All the insurance companies had to do was point this out to both the Demopublicans and the Republicrats, and the idea of a “single payer” system fell dead on the spot.More’s the pity…
Prfesser, that has been the situation for centuries, yea millenia. You don’t think they actually believe that nonsense, do you? They’re just a bunch of sociopaths that recognized a good scam when they saw one. The Church has been in the business of fleecing (and buggering…) the flock from the start.
