In 1950 my dad was a battalion commander in Gelnhausen, Germany, and toward the end of his tour he was a member of the court in a general court-martial, and it was held in the same courtroom as the Nurnberg trials [sorry about the missing umlaut on the ‘u’.]

I was teaching Rat chemistry classes and Organic lab at VMI in 1970 after 6 and a half years Regular Army, and sat in on programming classes in the civil engineering department, Punch your Hollerith cards, drop them into the bin, come back the next day to see if you did it right. In the early 80’s, I did some programming in Basic on a Timex-Sinclair with up to four functions per key. Finally got my first PC with a huge hard drive of 80 Mb for only $2400 in August 1991. Then I started automating three GC/MS’s in the Dallas DEA lab using HP’s macro language, run by Windows 3.0, Pascal, and HPUX, and the macro language for each one was slightly different. Then I retired in 1995 and haven’t programmed anything since.

Since I was born in ‘40, does that mean I haven’t been born yet and get another go-round starting in 2040? As Ahnold said, “Ah’ll be back”.

Trump is still a danger to democracy, even if he wears an earring in the hole in his ear.
