   Yepper, that’s my point. I hunt for organic food and buy items with low shelf life/non GMO or go directly to the farms in my state. This means cooking every or every other day, but I do feel much healthier. Ugly fruit don’t bother me cuz I know it’s natural and not modified to fight off bugs.

   To the question, “What would be worse” I gotta go with fresh food with short shelf life. Before ginormous supermarkets, there were local stores and folks shopped daily or weekly. Less chemicals added to basic staple products (milk, cheese, bread) that would affected our health in the long run. One day in August, as I worked to work, I noticed someone had spilled their salad (cherry tomatoes, spinach, romain lettuce) on the grass in the parking lot. For the next three days (it took awhile for maintenance) I noticed no rotting or insects eating it. Also, this is a place frequented by brown geese and squirrels. For me, if the animals and bugs don’t want it, neither do I. Food began to change in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Now, buying food is a crap-shoot.

   “Americans” don’t honor the dead in this country on any day or level equal to Dia De Muertos. That day is off the chain. The good thing is that there are choices in the fall. I choose Harvest celebration. Scarecrow vs Ghosts n Goblins, it’s a choice.
