Why not let them have their discussion? It’s not hurting anybody, and it’s good that people are being observant. I don’t see any reason to belittle the conversation
This is what I just told to 0a1s2d3f4g5h, most trolls here are made by this community. Even Martysays was making on topic comments before the hate started. They just happened to have the word “poll” in front of them, and for that two months of endless arguments had to happen.
I know this probably won’t be a very popular opinion, but I don’t think responding so negatively to people like this is a good idea. A lot of the time, when someone ends up as a troll, it’s usually because they want to get back at the people they’re trolling. I didn’t have an account at this point, but I did notice that Martysays didn’t actually spam or troll before he started receiving the amount of hate he did. It might be worth considering what such negative responses to these people will actually cause. We’ve already seen that trying to ban someone is pretty difficult, as they usually find a way to come back. That just means that in the end all you’re doing is making someone very angry at you and determined to make the comment section worse. I know at this point it’s probably a little too late for things with Alexcarey to be fixed, but maybe next time someone does something you find annoying, or that’s considered rude in the comment section, maybe try a more understanding approach before busting out all the hate. Most people don’t come here with the intention of being a troll. They don’t choose the troll life, the troll life chooses them, and that usually happens after they start getting hated on.
As funny as this is, I kind of wish the comic was a little nicer to Marty. He’s such a loving dad, and the moments when he wants to spend time with Nate are always heartwarming (That is until Nate shoots him down.) He’s a lovable dork, and every good humor comic needs the lovable dork character, but that doesn’t mean he needs to be abused. Some of the best arcs in Big Nate are the ones that focus on some more serious plot points and give character development, I’d love if we could have something like that for Marty. He’s such a likable guy, and it’s so sad to think that he’s a lonely, single dad who’s own son is embarrassed by him. I’d personally love to see either an arc where he really bonds with Nate or maybe even finds a long lasting love interest, anything to give him the love he deserves.
I’ve always been a little confused about that. Why is it so important that someone doesn’t get a featured comment? It doesn’t seem like it should matter that much.
