I dont think the girls are missing out on that much. My daughter went to prom a couple weeks ago. She said there weren’t even a lot of people there, and except for the fact that her long-term crush finally asked her out, the whole event was a bit of a letdown. Now she’s glad she bought a clearance rack dress – she looked just as beautiful as if she’d paid full price ;) – and her group decided to skip the limo and fancy dinner. Says she’s glad she had the experience but she probably won’t bother going next year.
Maybe it’s different here because she goes to a big city school where half the students are in AP and honors classes and many of them don’t seem to be hung up on appearances and having the latest Vera Bradley or Coach bag. It seems to me prom has gone through a stage like kids’ birthday parties, where it became all about outdoing everybody else.
I don’t think Quill is coming all the way to drama camp in the US just to see a cat fight between Luann and Tiff. He could instigate a similar fight anywhere. And he’s not spending all that money on airline tickets and living expenses just to go to one particular drama camp. He’s coming to see Luann, so I don’t think he’ll be that easily distracted by Tiff.
Amar, I think it still works. For the kind of career Delta wants, she first has to get a degree (or two or three), so she is just thinking beyond college already. It’s just a stepping stone to her, while perhaps Bernice is looking at the college experience as something enjoyable in itself.
I imagine Greg knows how it works but wants to represent the meaning. If he showed it as it would be in reality, it would probably look like they were kissing each others’ blurry foreheads or something. That wouldn’t give the impression of romance that he wants to portray.
Actually, I find Lev’s comments to be some of the more interesting and insightful ones compared to many other regular posters. I won’t even read Donny’s any more.
I thought Delta bought a bikini. She appears to be in a one-piece.
