Red and Rover never disappoint! I can go back in the archives and see that, years ago – nearly every strip on the page featured a salute to veterans – today, only a handful remember. In the meantime – my hat is off to uncle Gabe, who was in France during the Normandy invasion; Uncle Loren, who was on a troop transport, headed to Pearl Harbor when they learned about the attack; Cousin Royce who was at Iwo Jima; Uncle Harley and the McDaniel cousins, who saw action in Korea; neighbor Wayne, who spent most of World War II in a POW camp; Uncle Ernie, who helped liberate the concentration camps in Europe. The list could go on forever – Thank you, Red and Rover, for remembering!
