Anyone who had a dog they loved and may not have one now tends to approach other dogs for a “dog fix.” I know I did when I was living in the south without one. One day I had approached a neighbor walking his large dog to ask if I could say hello to his dog, Charlie. We talked a bit and when I told my neighbor I had had two large dogs up north and missed having one, he asked me if I would be interested in walking Charlie and dog sitting on occasional weekends. Of course I took the “job,” but refused the offer of pay because I loved Charlie so much. Leaving Charlie was the hardest part of moving back north.
