In Goodwater, Ala,., There is an annual casket race with pallbearers carrying a coffin with a live body who tries to hold a cup of water without spilling a drop! Ernie Edwards of Buith Wells, England, had his kneecap preserved inside a glass paperweight! Film actor Jimmy Stewart, while in the Navy, received a salary of $21 a month of which his agent got 10%!
Stewart apparently never served in the U.S. Navy; he flew bombers for the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and then after the war was in the Air Force Reserve (http://www.historynet.com/mr-stewart-goes-to-war.htm). In 1937, he did make a movie Navy Blue and Gold in which he portrayed a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy.
