There are, indeed, wide disparities between the White communities and the communities of color – I have seen this at work all my life.
I was intimately aware of “food deserts” long before the term was ‘coined’ – when I was growing up as an Amerind, I simply assumed that, as an adult, I would be overweight, have high blood pressure and, more than likely, Type II diabetes as well – that was just the way the world worked, and that is what I saw surrounding me.
Our “communities of color” (both black and brown) are going into this coronavirus pandemic with several risk factors already against them. And, just so you know, one of the risk factors hardly EVER mentioned is “smoking”!
Those little white tubes of ‘death’ you carry around in your shirt pocket or purse puts you at much greater risk of catching the “Trump” virus and once acquired, of dying from it – and one of the great heroes of the Right, Rusbo, didn’t get his stage 4 lung cancer from being morbidly overweight, trust me.
