Here we go again — Breen seems to imply the FALSE narrative that Elizabeth Warren is somehow being evasive about the real costs of her health plan. Aside from the fact that she has announced a detailed proposal to follow soon, there is nothing evasive in her responses so far.
Aside from the difficulty of fitting complex policy details into a 75-second response, no, Elizabeth Warren is NOT being evasive vis à vis middle class taxes and universal health care. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
Whether one pays higher taxes or not depends on income, family size, etc. We are already currently paying twice as much as other industrial countries for health care, but we are paying it as premiums, deductibles, high pharmacy costs (because Medicare and Medicaid are prohibited from negotiating with Big Pharma) co-pays and out-of-pocket costs.
We ELIMINATE all those costs for everyone.
And then we replace it with half the amount, but it comes from taxes.
Low income people WILL PAY NO TAX increase.
Corporations and billionaires will pay a lot more.
Middle class? Will depend on their specific situation regarding income, dependents and other factors. Some may see a small tax increase (that is fully more than offset by canceling premiums, deductibles, co-pays and out-of-pocket costs and then some) but many will see NO MIDDLE CLASS TAX INCREASE.
