In my perfect world, campaign commercials and posters would not be allowed. Each candidate would simply submit their responses to a predetermined set of questions about the issues. They could video-record those answers as well, for those who have difficulty reading print — but other than that, there would be no campaigning. I know people would scream about freedom of speech, but all rights are and ought to be regulated to some extent, and paid speech needs to be more carefully regulated (IMO). And of course, I would never regulate the actual political arguments being made (though threats and incitements to violence should be stamped out entirely).
