Alix: I can't believe the junk they put on TV! So much violence! And then they make us sit through dozens of commercials. It's ridiculous!! Alix: Hey! I was watching that! Val: Here, Alix. Alix: What's this? Val: Many hours of commercial-free entertainment. Alix: Cool! Alix: Hey! This isn't a video!! Val: It's time to kill the television.
My TV (only three channels) died when my kids were small, and I could not afford to fix it. (30 or more years ago) We did crafts, baked, outings and book reading (me reading to them) until my voice gave out, so we started borrowing audio books to listen to. Best summer ever, and my kids to this day think I planned it. (Occasionally, we would go to Grandparents for visit and watched TV, they had cable.)
