Not so long ago, a woman so willing to fight deforestation that she was willing to risk her social life climbed a tree and vowed to stay until the timber industry promised to stop doing bad things. This is her story. Diary of a tree sitter. Day 1: I, Debrah Jessika Pulaski, vow to stay in my sycamore until evil earth plunderers pledge not to cut it down. I am yours, great earth mother! Why do we all look like Bjork? Day 3: Wren called from the tree sitters collective. "Debrah?" She counseled me. "What kind of name is that?" Here this, oh goddess - Debrah is dead! I consecrate myself "dew"! Your soy burgers are here. Day 4: It's cold up here! Wet, too. As soon as we win the war on treeorism we've got to do something about these bugs. Die! Day 7: Still no lumber baddies. Of course, I am in a city park! Dew. D-E-W. The Washington Post got it wrong. You know, you look just like Bjork. Day 10: Nature is amazing! I never thought I'd see a thunderstorm this close! Whoa! You should have smelled her before the lightning strike.
