This all started when we had a plant delivery to our garden center. One of the plant racks had tipped over on the truck and destroyed the plants to the point where we could not sell them. We were supposed to mark them as “claimed out” (where we would get credit for them), then we were supposed to throw the plants away. I just could not do that. So, working on my own time, lunch hours and after work, I planted the flowers by our garden center. Granted, I did this secretly, without getting permission from our store manager, but with full support from fellow garden center associates and other co-workers. In fact, we had gotten permission the year before to plant a memorial garden for associates who had died, but we never followed through. But the year I did this, we had a different manager and I swear, he hated plants. A day or two after these pictures and video were take, he had the entire garden ripped out and replaced with ugly black mulch. His lovely tribute to past associates.
This is my memorial garden video (2015). Some of these plants looked really bad when I planted them, but I had high hopes they would thrive, given time. Sadly, they were not given time. The store manager had the entire garden ripped out a couple days after I took this video. I was completely devastated.
