No time to read all the comments, but it made me laugh out loud (chuckle out loud at least) because even the great artists DID sometimes have assistants and when doing a process that required paint to be mixed with egg as it was there, some sort of code may have been used (on the sketch -not the actual surface) but it may have been the equivalent of the first “paint by numbers” and I think that is brilliant!
