Hilburn gets my guffaw for a good one here, but rates a thumbs-down for perpetuating the myth that the Biblical record says anything about them sleeping in a stable. Odds are, the happy couple camped in a pasture on the outskirts of Bethlehem and grabbed whatever corn crib was handy — well, it’s Palestinian equivalent, anyway — for the little JC to nap in. (If you’ve never slept on a straw mattress, they’re heaven.)
