I really like the idea of ultra-local expertise.
Not only does it reduce the 50% uncertainty that FUNG1 is so rightly sick and tired of, but it is just a lot more fun, like everyone’s hobbies always used to be.
There probably really are lots of wonky people in retirement communities who have the time to spend their days being the resident expert in getting their neighbors’ e-mail attachments to open, flowers artfully arranged, cats cared for during trips, and the list could be endless.
It’s a hellalot better than feeling bored and worthless. And a lot of “neighborhoods” could really use some heartfelt volunteerism if they want to be true communities.
