The truth is even stranger: the first attempt (in 1992) at translating Hogan’s Heroes into German got poor ratings and was cancelled after just 24 episodes. The second version (in 1994) went for “lower” humor, changing the voices in Saxon and Bavarian dialects, and was much more popular.
