I know you didn’t go through the Obamacare website, as you don’t approve of it, and it’s only necessary to do so if you want to qualify for a government subsidy, and I know you don’t want to be receiving any government subsidies: you don’t approve of them. Health insurance IS expensive, and some insurers make it a lot more so. But for most folks health insurance is subsidized by an employer or (now) by the nation. But yes, if you have always lived in a fire-trap of a house, poorly built, and liable to collapse, and finally building and safety codes are instituted, and your old house is condemned, you won’t be finding a new house, built to code, as cheap.
