I have a neighbor, bit of an alpha-male, but a definite good guy overall, who went down to PR to work 12-hour days fixing the place. He’s a heavy equipmt operator, BUT once they found out that he could do Diesel engine repair, they wouldn’t let him do anything else. Small wonder given the huge scale of the mess to be moved around; downed trees, crumpled high-tension electric towers, etc.
He’s getting $50/hr, 6 days a week plus food and board expenses. Didn’t speak a word of Espanol when he started, about as Kentucky Homegrown as imaginable. I imagine he opted it to cover the cost of his father sitting in a Nursing Home with dementia. But with no children, and working as a sub-contractor, he’s going to see a Hefty income tax bill next year…
I just wanna hear all the stories he has to tell when he gets back….
