let’s take a look at where computers have gotten us:the NSA knows what everybody is doing, the IRS, CMS, and a few other agencies compromised our identities.if you purchased almost anything with a credit card you are now having fun explaining to some big bank that some of those charges were not made by you.russia, china, the US, and probably a few more, are having great fun stealing vital commercial and defense secrets from one another.the US and its states (and their subdivisions) have spent untold millions (billions) on computer applications that don’t work, work so poorly they cannot be trusted, or spent another few millions to get a poor approximation of what they wanted in the first place. a stock market that can conduct millions of transactions in less than a second without human interference.
on the plus side, we now have cars that accelerate whenever they want to, social interaction programs that let everybody know what a dunce you are, and, my favorite, ephemeral money.

it does tend to bring out the luddite in me.
