Scientific and technical progress cannot be held back. The question is “Who should be the beneficiaries?” Should it be simply the owners/stockholders of the automated industries(and their top lieutenants)? What about the general population, those who were not born into multi-millionaire families? How do these people sell their labor? Will there be enough supporting jobs to go around? Will the profits from these automated industries be shared with their employees? As prosperity grows, who shares in the gains? . . . . . I, for one, have little faith that questions like these will be addressed, much less even considered. The consolidation of the world’s economic wealth into such a tiny, yet powerful minority has put all Humanity into a dangerous, explosive environment. They will use their vast sums to defend their material wealth against any encroachment. And they have technology on their side: the information we have all given them, and the micro-electronic surveillance devices, a paid police force and a government to enforce their will.It is today’s youth who will face the seeming insurmountable challenges looming ahead.
